Spring Update, 2022

The snow is finally gone, the water is slowly receding, grass is green, leaves are budding, and summer is around the corner! While winter may have been long and stormy, ministry didn't slow down. We saw God in the opportunities he gave us, in safety through the many storms, and in the growth we’ve seen in others through Him.

At the Island Breeze base, we’ve just finished graduating our first class of the Bible Core Course. This was a 14 week intensive course where students learn to study and interpret the bible using the inductive method. Students spend 50+ hours per week working through 14 books of the Bible, covering the full breadth of the scripture. My primary role was leading our reading days. In the 14 weeks, we read together out loud the entirety of the Bible, which is an amazing opportunity and experience.

Most of our students had limited experience studying and interpreting the word for themselves. Their experiences are based on elders or pastors passing down instruction, and that being the final word. To open up, experience and interpret scripture in context and as complete story is a new experience for many. We saw our students gain a new understanding, respect and awe for God’s word.

One of my big current projects is the planning of Worship in the City on June 19th. I’m excited to be working with local churches on the community worship service, as well as planning other Christian artists for the afternoon.

My highlight from the last few months was the opportunity Rescue Story had to visit

Cornerstone Church in Elm Creek and speak to their youth group about faith and mental health. We led in worship, and then I spent time sharing my journey through depression. God’s timing was clearly at hand, as we found out that just that week a young man from that community had taken his own life. As churches open back up for events, these are the kinds events I’ve wanted to focus my ministry on.

Thank you all for your prayers and support. Pray for the summer and the performances we will be having, both with Island Breeze and Rescue Story. Pray for God’s guidance as we plan for fall, that he would give clear direction in our next steps.
